Reading Day Celebration was observed with great enthusiasm at Salafiyya Training College, Karinganad on 24 June 2026, with the objective of promoting the habit of reading and fostering literary awareness among teacher trainees. The programme highlighted the significance of reading as a lifelong learning practice and encouraged students to cultivate a culture of regular reading.
The celebration was inaugurated by Dr. M. P. Narayananunni, Principal, who addressed the gathering on the importance of reading in shaping knowledgeable, reflective, and responsible teachers. In his inaugural speech, he emphasized that reading not only enhances academic knowledge but also broadens perspectives, strengthens critical thinking, and contributes to the holistic development of individuals. He encouraged the students to make reading an integral part of their daily lives and future teaching profession.
As part
of the celebration, a Reading Quiz Competition was organized to assess
and enhance students' knowledge of literature, authors, books, and
reading-related topics. The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation
from the teacher trainees, who displayed keen interest and remarkable literary
awareness. The quiz created a healthy competitive spirit while reinforcing the
value of reading and continuous learning.
The
programme successfully inspired students to appreciate the importance of books
and reading as powerful tools for intellectual growth, creativity, and
professional development. The celebration concluded with a message encouraging
all students to sustain their reading habits and actively participate in
