Art and Drama Workshop
Salafiyya Training College, Karinganad organized an Art and Drama Workshop on 2 July 2026 with the objective of nurturing creativity, self-expression, and artistic skills among teacher trainees. The programme was designed to familiarize future teachers with the educational significance of art and drama as effective pedagogical tools for promoting experiential learning, creativity, and emotional development in the classroom.
The
workshop was conducted by Mr. Mubarak P. A., Assistant Professor in Music,
SSVCTE, Ottapalam, who served as the Resource Person. In his
inaugural session, he highlighted the transformative role of art and drama in
education, emphasizing that creative expression enhances communication skills,
confidence, imagination, and emotional intelligence among learners. He
encouraged the participants to integrate artistic and dramatic activities into
their teaching practices to create engaging, inclusive, and learner-centred
classrooms.
The
workshop comprised a variety of interactive and hands-on sessions focusing on
artistic expression, voice modulation, body language, role play, improvisation,
creative storytelling, and dramatic performance techniques. Participants
actively engaged in individual and group activities that encouraged
collaboration, creativity, and spontaneous expression. The resource person also
demonstrated practical classroom strategies for incorporating drama and art
into different subject areas to make learning more meaningful and enjoyable.
Teacher
trainees enthusiastically participated in the experiential activities, which
provided them with opportunities to explore their creative potential, overcome
stage fear, and strengthen their communication and presentation skills. The
workshop created a vibrant learning atmosphere where participants freely
expressed their ideas and gained confidence through active involvement.
The
programme concluded with an interactive reflection session, during which
participants shared their learning experiences and appreciated the practical
insights gained from the workshop. They acknowledged the relevance of art and
drama in fostering creativity, critical thinking, and holistic development
among school students.
Outcome
The Art and Drama Workshop successfully enhanced the creative, communicative, and expressive abilities of teacher trainees. The programme equipped participants with practical techniques for integrating art and drama into classroom teaching, thereby promoting active learning, student engagement, and holistic development. The workshop inspired future teachers to adopt creative pedagogical practices that foster imagination, confidence, collaboration, and emotional well-being among learners.
