As part of the sustainable agricultural practices promoted under the Krishimithra Project, Salafiyya Training College, Karinganad, organized a successful spinach harvesting session on 6th August 2025 in the college's organic farming area.
The event began with a brief introduction by the faculty coordinator, highlighting the importance of organic farming and the nutritional value of spinach. Teacher trainees, along with faculty members and local volunteers, enthusiastically participated in the harvesting activity. The farm, nurtured organically over the past few weeks by the students themselves, yielded a healthy and fresh crop of spinach.
The harvested spinach was distributed among the orphanage children supported by the college’s outreach program, contributing to their nutritional well-being. A portion was also used for preparing healthy meals in the college canteen, reinforcing the practice of "farm to table" and raising awareness on sustainable consumption.
The harvesting event not only promoted the values of self-reliance and environmental responsibility but also provided a practical, hands-on agricultural experience to the students. It was an excellent opportunity to integrate vocational training with community service.
The event concluded with a feedback session where students shared their learning experiences and expressed their eagerness to engage in future farming activities. The college appreciated the dedication of all participants and reaffirmed its commitment to promoting eco-friendly farming and community engagement through the Krishimithra Project.
